Maribeth is a certified translator and a Licensed Lead Trainer of The Community Interpreter®. She has more than 25 years experience as a professional translator and university Spanish instructor, including serving as translator for Hispanic Link News Service and the Mayor’s Office on Latino Affairs in Washington, D.C.
She has trained students in the M.A. Program in Translation at the University of Puerto Rico through extended learning internships. She has taught English at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and Spanish at the University of Texas, Austin, at Cibeles Internacional, Madrid, Spain; and at Georgetown University, The World Bank, and The George Washington University. In addition, she has served as consultant for the Center for Applied Linguistics and as an evaluator for the National Assessment of Educational Progress. Maribeth is also a founding member of The Route 78 Rotary Club of North San Diego County. The club exists to promote goodwill, respect and better friendships through service and support to the diverse communities of North County. Projects consist of providing school supplies and dictionaries to a variety of elementary schools along the Route 78 corridor. Members of The Route 78 Rotary club have also offered interpretation services at the Thousand Smiles Clinic in Ensenada, Mexico. |
